If you're more of a dog person, you can cuddle your pooch, laying your head on his belly and listen to the sound of his breathing. When your breaths are in sync and you are listening to the soothing sounds of the breathing, you can achieve total relaxation and comfort together.

When you feel total acceptance and confidence with your pet, and connect on a deep level, that is what breeds the best conditions for healing. This also extends to more than just touch and togetherness - it also means talking to your pets, and interacting with them almost as equals. Some experts even suggest that throwing birthday parties for your pets, or treating them with special dinners, activities, or toys, can increase the connection and bond that you have. In turn, that bond will pay dividends to your overall healing.
