Stress, anxiety and fear… These are just a few of the things that can attack your mind on a daily basis. They appear at inopportune moments and wreak havoc on your life.
But it doesn’t have to be that way.
There are plenty of techniques and strategies you can implement to overcome each of these situations. You don’t have to live in fear, feel overcome with stress or live with crippling anxiety. All it takes is a bit of perseverance and dedication to overcome these things.
So, what are you waiting for?
Start by implementing 1-2 of these things each week. You’ll find that some techniques work better than others. The key is to find what works best for you and stick with it.
Now, without further ado, let’s get into today’s article…
Practice Mindfulness to Stay in the “Now”
Some of my most stressful moments happen when I’m worried about something in the future. It’s funny how that works – getting painfully overwhelmed by a situation that hasn’t occurred.
Luckily, the solution is simple: mindfulness.
Now, for those of you like me, this is easier said than done. However, if you acknowledge your moment of spiral, it’s much easier to address it, dismiss it and return to the present moment.
Implement Breathing Exercises
Have you ever overreacted to a situation and a friend calming said, Just breathe…
If you’re obedient, you took a deep breath and – to your surprise – it seemed like the whole world slowed down. Well, your friend was right: just breathe…
Regular breathing exercises can do amazing things for your mind and body.
Remember, just breathe...
Soothe Your Mind Through Music
How many times does your brain run so fast that you can’t concentrate on anything? It’s certainly happened to me more times than I’d like to admit…
One thing that helps is when I put on some very calming music.
The type of music you choose depends on your tastes. Using curated playlists from Spotify is an easy way to get started in this habit. SPA Treatment is definitely one of my favorites.
Create and Repeat a Calming Mantra
We often find ourselves in the same types of stressful situations again and again. When you identify these repeated triggers, you can develop ways to calm yourself in those situations.
One way is through a calming mantra. Sandra Pawula points out a large list of 33 calming mantras on her blog. A few of my favorites include:
- I deserve to live with ease.
- I always feel better when I pause in response to stress.
- I say “no” to stress and “yes” to ease.
- I’ve done more than enough today.
- I’ve done well. I don’t have to be perfect.
- My freedom lies in my ability to gracefully say “no.”
- Peace is within my reach.
Pick one and start applying it to your day.
Start a Regular Energy Healing Treatment
I’d be remiss if I didn’t point out the positive effects of energy healing. We’ve talked in the past about how it can help with relieving stress, and I want to drive that benefit home again now.
The deep relaxation and positive environment makes healing a wonderful way to let go of the pain and stress that overwhelms your mind on a daily basis.
You don’t have to live your life tormented by your own mind. Release the stress, fear and anxiety that overcomes you by investing in these techniques. Through regular practice and discipline, you can free yourself of these burdens. Do you have other techniques that you’d recommend? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
