We all deal with things that go wrong and have to plan for those things at some point. When a series of events go wrong it becomes easy to start a pattern of seeing the bad in everything instead of focusing on the good - and even becoming crippled by these feelings.
As these feelings start to build up, pessimism builds and cements itself.
Pessimism has the potential to ruin hopes and dreams. It can leave you feeling bleak and unable or unwilling to create goals that will improve your life. When you do think of a goal, your mind turns to the obstacles and you decide you won’t overcome them before it’s even started.
If that sounds familiar, don’t worry.
Pessimism and optimism are not hereditary traits – they’re perspectives that can be cultivated and changed. You’re about to learn how to transition from a pessimistic mindset to an optimistic mindset and have a brighter tomorrow.
Ignite Your Inner Fire by Finding a Cause
Discover a cause that you truly believe in.
Pessimism is often due to a lack of hope, and aligning with a cause can often cultivate hope. You’ll be working with a group of people to achieve a certain goal. Whether that’s helping the homeless or providing Christmas gifts to children in need, discover anything that resonates with you.
This might be a trial and error process, so be patient with it.
Explore different causes and observe your emotional reaction as you learn about them and become involved. If you still feel pessimistic about the cause, move on to a new one.
Shift Your Focus to What’s Possible
A pessimist immediately thinks about obstacles when they hear a goal or dream. An optimist thinks of possibilities.
Learn how to observe your focus with a meditation practice.
Set aside 5 or 10 minutes a day to sit comfortably and focus on your breath. As you do, you’ll focus in on your thoughts.
Are you dwelling on obstacles? That’s alright for now. Intentionally try to think about the possibilities instead of the impossibilities.
That’s the ultimate ‘easier said than done’, statement. Yet, it is core to becoming an optimist. Put in the time and effort – you’ll notice a brighter disposition towards achieving goals.
Pursue Internal Healing
Pessimism is often based on our past experiences.
Maybe you have had a series of bad events, or it seems like everything you’ve tried in the past has failed. It’s easy to understand why this would create a pessimistic mindset.
Help root out this problem with energy healing.
Energy healing treatments aim to relax your mind and muscles, allowing you to closely observe pessimistic tendencies. You’ll become more aware of why these thoughts are coming up time and time again.
The professional providing the healing treatment will also help guide you through emotions that arise during treatment.
Journal after your treatment to discover further insights into why you tend to be pessimistic.
Celebrate Your Successes
Any minor success should be celebrated.
Take yourself out for a healthy meal, high five a friend or spend extra time with your loved ones to celebrate hitting any milestone you set.
Creating a habit of celebrating yourself will reinforce positivity, also known as optimism. Don’t feel embarrassed or ashamed to pat yourself on the back and feel proud for what you’ve achieved.
Over time, you can shift your perspective from pessimistic to optimistic.
It probably won’t be overnight, and it’ll probably take consistent effort. Eventually, you’ll notice that you look forward to the following day. You’ll wake up ready to achieve your goals and empower others to achieve there’s. You’ll become a force for positive change in the world.
