New Paradigms in UK Health Care

Ann Boone

Last month, Relief from Pain was invited to attend the Annual Balens’ Forum at the Beauty UK show held at the NEC Birmingham.  Three leading figures in the field of healthcare in the UK gave presentations on the significance of the big data project known as the Hawthorn Natural Health Initiative (HNHI) which was initiated by David Balen, founder of one of the first insurance companies in the world covering natural health (1).

Corporate social responsibility: why companies should sponsor charities

Ann Boone

Corporate social responsibility is a topic frequently discussed these days. More and more, large companies are becoming increasingly conscious of their impact on their greater society and environment, and finding ways to either reduce their negative impact, or finding solutions to give back to their communities. It's a great initiative for the corporations who are doing it, who typically have more than enough revenue to help those in need, and align themselves with charities, NGOs  and not-for-profit organisations who make this world a better place. While companies are finding it crucial to establish clear values - and prove that they are aligning themselves with others who share their values - it can be beneficial for them to sponsor charities and fundraising events.

What is Clinical Research and How It Affects You

Mémé Watanabe

The Internet gives us a free licence to find out information on every aspect of health. So, how can we find out the right information to help us make better health choices? First, we need to understand what clinical research is and how it affects us.

From the research on medicines and supplements you take to the studies on the development or prevention of disease, clinical research seeks to find out numerous facts such as how a drug or nutrient works in the body, its positive and adverse effects, prevalence of disease, statistical outcomes and safe practice.

Reiki and Patient Experience. Highlights from our Interview with Alice Langholt

Ann Boone

"It's so fascinating the way that Reiki can help people, and I have applied it in many different ways. I used to live in Ohio just over two years ago, where I'd spent two years giving Reiki as a volunteer at a big hospital called the Cleveland Clinic, and I was one of several Reiki practitioners that would go and give Reiki to patients on different floors for different reasons and it was really remarkable to see the difference then.

HIMSS 2018: Creating Innovative Ideas to Improve Healthcare

Ann Boone

It was my first time attending the HIMSS18 (Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society Conference 2018) conference which brought together around 47,000 people from all over the world, for five days in three massive convention buildings and hotels. The sheer size made us all walk for several hours a day. Painful feet and severe blisters were thankfully helped by ‘Second Skin’ at CVS.

Co-operation is the new competition. Does that even make sense, for healers too?

Ann Boone

Why organisations need to work together? Why does Relief from Pain Charity choose to work with Social Enterprise Journey to the Heart and Soul to create paid jobs for healers. Why is Journey to the Heart and Soul joining Relief from Pain to do clinical research?

In today’s complex environments experts depend on other experts. We cannot know everything about everything anymore as domains become narrower and narrower and knowledge, on the other hand, is more and more extensive. Interdependence is a fact. Never mind the modern technology, co-operation is a must. It is still a basic necessity like air and water if we want to continue to live and survive on our wonderful planet.

Are the benefits of Healing and CAM therapies real?

Ann Boone

Start of our pilot project to test the benefits of Healing and CAM therapies using breakthrough technologies and advanced clinical research methods: consolidating 10 years of research and networking.

Ideas are cheap, only action and results counts. You have probably heard that before.
What if you have an amazing idea. What if the idea is complex, hugely expensive and encompassing very different areas of expertise. What if it involves bringing together many experts that have not been working together (yet)? What if you have no clue how to proceed, what action do you take? Where do you start?

New Paradigm in Education

Ann Boone

In ancient China doctors used to get paid to keep people healthy and feeling well. When you got ill, the doctor did not get any money as he wasn’t doing his job properly.

A completely different mindset from most of our current healthcare systems where we try and fix things AFTER our health and wellbeing had been affected. So the educational and healthcare systems are not really geared towards prevention at the moment: we all agree that something needs to change, WE need to change our approach, to find different ways to look after our home, our wonderful blue planet as well as ourselves, our body and the  beautiful conscious mind that connects all of us.

Is Healing Magic? Healing is not a Miracle Cure.

Cornel Linders

Healing …
What is it? …
And why does it work so well? …..
And why at the same time is it so unknown in the medical world?

To answer the last question, most doctors dismiss it straight away. Therefore these worlds have never had to opportunity to blend. The average doctor would stop reading after: ‘Healing is an act of God, the Creator.’ ‘Healing is inexplicable.’
